This intervention evokes a tangible tension in a suspended space-time. Being the mediator of a constant dialogue between what lives and dies, the checkerboard is an uncertain game contradicting any limit of space.

Eve Bonneau is a performance artist based in Brussels. Since 2005 Eve engages herself in performance. Her work questions the presence and its limits. The sensation is her guideline in its passage from internal spheres to public ones. With a constant question: Can we perceive the organic body as a space of political activation?

A series of performances and talks, which capture the spirit of MPA-B 2011-2015 as a physical space, defined by inversion. MPA–B was founded in 2011 to explore new models of curating and to facilitate connections and cooperation amongst organisations and independent players working in the field of performance art in Berlin.

We will ask former and future collaborators to contribute to a generative sound library, a collective curriculum for the past (MPA-B) and future (the committee) practices of APAB e.V. (Association for Performance Art in Berlin) This approach emphasizes the act of ‘listening’ on a post-subjective (witness) level as an active and ongoing component of the art event itself to describe a state of emergence or experiential shift.

Everybody is most welcome to pass by or make an interview appointment to contribute to the second APAB publication. Opening hours at Grüntaler9 daily (except on Saturday 16th, Tuesday 19th, Friday 22nd, Saturday 23rd and Wednesday 27th) from midday to 7pm (last interview can start at 6pm).

Performer Stammtisch is proud and happy to welcome legendary Canadian performance artist Margaret Dragu back to Berlin for the 5th edition of MPA–B. Margaret invites you to join her for eight afternoons of long durational performance at Grüntaler9 – a space towards the performative. She’ll be inviting various MPArtists and other guests over for interviews and random collaborations.

„The Artist is Working“ is a research-based and process-driven durational performance exploring (daily) chance operations and improvisations by the artist and with others at Grüntaler9, while also exploring notions of knowledge, library, archive, memory and history.

Daily program:

4. Actively Forgetting (so little time yet so much to forget)
5. Making a Museum (bring a very very small object for the art collection)

Margaret Dragu (aka Verb Frau, nuestra senora del pan, Lady Justice, Art Cinderella) was last seen at MPA-B with live broadcasts and on-line transmissions of VERB FRAU TV in 2013.

Margaret Dragu is celebrating her fourth decade as a performance artist. She has presented her work in galleries, museums, theatres, nightclubs, libraries, universities and many site-specific venues. Margaret is also a film/video artist, writer, choreographer, installation and new media artist as well as a fitness & yoga instructor/personal trainer with a clinical exercise practice and an extremely famous cleaning lady.

Margaret Dragu is a 2012 recipient of Canadian Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Arts.

Month of Performance Art Berlin 2015 ::::::::: contribution initiated by Grüntaler9 & Panoply Performance Laboratory

Resistance & Resilience ::::::::: Do I do?
::::::::: Collaboration as performance through a series of durational acts ::::::::: May 7-9 from 12-18h

In the time of emergency, actions are taken without justification, born into a situation as a last resort or as a result of another situation. The ever-changing realities of power structures and hasty developments in the multiple societies create a fragile present and uncertain future. This is projected by both the powerful and the powerless, through space and every walk of life.

Multiple working groups of artists each develop and each perform collaborative public research actions and talks surrounding concrete plans to address practical resilience and resistance strategies. Engaging in and integrated life courses at the space towards the performative – Grüntaler9, each participant deals with their own practice and the relationship between complex contemplation and acts.

The artists are invited to participate in a multiple day investigation, which formalizes analytic access to the performance of resilience and resistance. By struggling in ordinary performative forms to communicate and practice, we construct a platform analogizing power shifts and conflicts through collaborative acts themselves. Together, we practice non-representation as aligned with anti-commodification under and within the neo-liberal system.

All elements of this project are being constructed collaboratively and by involved participants, entities and individuals. It’s a set of operation.

Participation Rules in form of a micro-macro manifest:

1) Everyone can participate.

2) Participants need to show up at the location Grüntaler9 the first and the second and the third day no later than 12h midday.

3) Participants need to dedicate their time & presence for the entire 3 days from 12-18h.

4) No exceptions made.

5) Participants need to make a donation for food & drinks provided during that time period.

6) Participants don’t need to register.

7) We don’t vote.

8) Perform & collaborate & care.

9) Commit for a collaborative series of performative acts at the HUB on Monday May 11th.

With its first publication, the Association for Performance Art in Berlin is very proud to present a milestone in its relatively young life. The book is a very ambitious event, an enactment to monitor the association’s progress and the potentials of present-day performance art.

Nussknacker müssen sich keine goldene Nase verdienen [On Obtrusive Communal Speculations] has been edited by APAB’s Committee on Publicness in intimate group sessions with various members of the association at Grüntaler9, warm kitchens and online platforms throughout the last 11 months. Considered as a time-shifting group performance and an offshoot from the previous MPA-B edition at DingDongDom last year, the publication has been performed and materialised around multiple micro-events with several guests focussing on the negation of communal autonomy, radically ignoring Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite.

The txtbook performs and extents the encounter that happened between the featured artists and the audiences during MPA-B2014, between the authors of the book, the future readers, the places of production and its witnesses.

Designed by We make it, the Committee on Publicness will round up the production in the coming week with the presentation of a printed matter Risograph performance, on Monday, May 4th during a presentation including live poetry writing, full-length Zarathustra, black Gaffer tape and the presence of the KBB Künstlerischen Bedarfsbüro! /// Office for Artistic Needs!
