Performer Stammtisch is proud and happy to welcome legendary Canadian performance artist Margaret Dragu back to Berlin for the 5th edition of MPA–B. Margaret invites you to join her for eight afternoons of long durational performance at Grüntaler9 – a space towards the performative. She’ll be inviting various MPArtists and other guests over for interviews and random collaborations.
„The Artist is Working“ is a research-based and process-driven durational performance exploring (daily) chance operations and improvisations by the artist and with others at Grüntaler9, while also exploring notions of knowledge, library, archive, memory and history.
Daily program:
1. Easy Fitness (cardio, strength, stretch)
2. Gentle Yoga (Hatha, Restorative)
3. Meditation
4. Actively Forgetting (so little time yet so much to forget)
5. Making a Museum (bring a very very small object for the art collection)
6. Chance Operations (Cards and Dice)
7. Improvisation
8. the LIBRARY PROJECT (Looking at the Archive, Adding to the Archive),
9. Mapping/Listing notions around New Curatorial/Economic Practices
10. Recording Short Chats with Special Guest Artists
11. Chasing of Margaret into the Bath.
Margaret Dragu (aka Verb Frau, nuestra senora del pan, Lady Justice, Art Cinderella) was last seen at MPA-B with live broadcasts and on-line transmissions of VERB FRAU TV in 2013.
Margaret Dragu is celebrating her fourth decade as a performance artist. She has presented her work in galleries, museums, theatres, nightclubs, libraries, universities and many site-specific venues. Margaret is also a film/video artist, writer, choreographer, installation and new media artist as well as a fitness & yoga instructor/personal trainer with a clinical exercise practice and an extremely famous cleaning lady.
Margaret Dragu is a 2012 recipient of Canadian Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Arts.
